Sometimes all it takes to save someone’s life is to speak up. Ready to use your voice? You can start right now. Remind people that ride with you to wear seatbelts. Ask whoever you’re riding with to slow down if you you don’t feel safe. Tell your friend that had too much to drink that he can have his keys back tomorrow. If you think about it, there’s lots of ways you can speak out against dangerous driving.
Think back to the last time you got scared while riding in a car. Who was driving? How many people were in the car? What made it scary? Did anybody say anything? Why not? What’s worse - pretending you’re not scared because you don’t want to be the one to ruin the fun or facing the consequences of a crash? It only takes a few seconds for everything to change, and you can be the voice that matters.
Your voice is powerful. You can use it to make a difference in the lives of people around you. Avoid ever having to say, “if only I’d told him to . . .” by saying it now.
